• Funaab was first established as Federal University of Technology,
Abeokuta (FUTAB) in 1983.
• In 1984 it was merged with Unilag, and was called College of Science
and Technology,
Abeokuta (COSTAB), before the demerger of January, 1988.
• Unaab was changed to Funaab in Oct 2011.
• Funaab started off from the old
Campus of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein near the city centre.
• Funaab moved to it's permanent site @ Alabata in 1997, in what
has been termed the fastest pace of Permanent Site development in the history
of Nigerian University System.
• Funaab campus is over 10,000 hectares.
• Funaab's First Vc Professor Adedipe Served for two terms, 8
January 1988 to 31 December 1991 and
1 January 1992 to 31 December 1995. The School's Library was named after him.
• Our second vice Chancellor was
Professor Julius Amioba OKOJIE, he served from 1996 – 2001
(Funaab was ranked No 1 by NUC accreditation exercise,duringhis
tenure). He is now the
Executive Secretary of NUC.
• The third Vice-Chancellorwas Professor Israel Folorunso ADU, who
served from 1 September 2001 to 31 August 2006.
• Professor Ishola ADAMSON acted as
Vice-Chancellorfrom 1 September 2006
till 24 May 2007( Due to internal crisis, academic staff were divided
as to who was to be the Vc)
• Our fourth Vc was the great Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun ( He
was appointed by Obasanjo, due to the internal crisis ). He served
from May 24, 2007- May 23, 2012.
• Professor Olusola Bandele OYEWOLE was appointed the fifth
substantive Vice- Chancellor, he assumed office from May 24,2012 -
till date.
