Carter Foundation Scholarship For 42 Indigent Students (2013/2014).

Forty-two indigent but brilliant Secondary School and University
students have been awarded the 2013/2014 Carter Foundation
Scholarship. The awards were announced on Thursday by the chairman of
Louis Carter Industries Ltd, Chief Louis Onwugbenu.
While the secondary school scholarship is valued at N25,000 for one
academic session, the university scholarship is worth N100,000.
Onwugbenu charged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity of the
scholarship to concentrate on their studies.
He lamented that he could not further his education beyond primary
school because of lack of funds.
He said the scholarship was in line with a promise he made to lead a
crusade to eliminate illiteracy if he had the opportunity to do so.
The chairman of the Anambra State Schools Education Service
Commission, Mrs. Joy Ulasi, thanked Onwugbenu for taking the
initiative in education philanthropy and noted that Nnewi which is
widely known for business was now opening up for the development of
other sectors.
She urged the beneficiaries and their parents to remain studious and
steadfast in order to achieve the aims of the scholarship scheme.
