Update On ASUP/NASUP/COEASU Strikes.

Following the lingering strike by the the Academic Staff Union of
Polytechnics (ASUP) and Non Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics
(NASUP), Osun Polytechnic students turned out in mass on May 22, 2014,
Thursday, to protest. It was identified that most of the protesters
are students from various state-run colleges of education, as well as
polytechnic schools in the state.
It was gathered that students marched down a busy road in Osogbo, the
Osun state capital, and reached the Orita Ola-Iya junction where they
were confronted by an anti-riot police unit who used force to disperse
the protesters.
It was also gathered that about sixteen of activists were arrested.
Sooner than anticipated, about a hundred of protesters regrouped and
went to another junction, at Oke-Ifa in an attempt to continue their
action.
